BIBLE STUDY LESSON 6

TOPIC: PRAYER

TEXT: Luke18: 1,Colossians 4:2

WHAT IS PRAYER?
Prayer is simply an act of communicating, offering thanks and making request to God.

A PRAYER HEARING GOD
It is God's nature to hear and answer prayer. In Ps.65: 2 The Psalmist was inspired to say `O`Thou that heareth prayer unto thee shall all flesh come.”

God is the unchanging God who hears prayer, the God who longs to answer prayer, the God who in all generations and with all kinds of people eagerly listens to prayer. 2Chr.7: 14,Matt.6: 6,Ps91: 15,Jer33: 3.Having gone through these Scriptures, two things are expected of anyone coming to God.

1. He must believe that there is God.Ps 14:1.

2: He must believe that God is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. In summary it means God hears and answers prayer. Hebrews 11:6

WHY SHOULD WE PRAY:

•  Because God insistently commands it in the Bible. Luke 18:1,1Thess.5: 17, Phil.4: 6,Matt.26: 41,Eph.6: 18-19.

•  Because prayer is God's way for Christians to have fullness of joy and have their needs met. Jn.16: 24, Pr.10: 22.

•  Because prayer is God's appointed way for Christians to get things done. James 4:2.

•  Because prayer is the way out of all trouble, cares, Worries and anxiety. Phil.4: 6-7,1Pt.5: 7, Psm.55: 22.

PRAYER IS ASKING

Ask and it shall be given to you. Matt7: 7-8, James4: 2-3,Jn 16:24, Matt.21: 22,Jn.14: 14.

Prayer is asking, it is seeking and knocking. One who prays is expecting to receive. One who knocks is expecting something opened. One who seeks is expecting to find something.

THE ANSWER TO PRAYER IS RECEIVING.

If prayer is asking, then the answer to prayer must be receiving. It is the will of our heavenly father that we should be able to come to Him day by day, ask what we want and receive it.

THE NECESSARY INGREDIENTS A CHRISTIAN NEEDS TO KNOW TO HELP GET HIS PRAYER ANSWERED.

•  Desire what you want from God then find the scriptures to confirm what you want. Back to Top

•  Ask God the for things you want by faith, Mark 11:23 ,24.As a great man of God said”.A prayerless Christian is powerless Christian”.

•  Let every desire, thought and what you say, say yes to the fact that you have received what you ask God for.

•  Thought is governed by Association. Observation. Teaching- you have to be careful of what you observe, the association you keep, and the teaching you receive (Ps107: 43).

•  Think constantly on those promises on which you base the answer to your prayer. Hebrews 4: 12.

•  Think of the Love, Mercy, Goodness and blessings of God and it will keep your faith strong to receive what you have prayed for.

Finally, the Bible says come boldly unto the throne room of grace that we might obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4: 14-16.
