BIBLE STUDY
LESSON 4

HOW TO DEVELOP THE HUMAN SOUL

TEXT: ROMANS 12:1-2, 1PETER 1: 22

INTRODUCTION:

We look more closely now into second part of the study of how to develop the Human soul. You remember we taught on the Spirit last week. As it was stated earlier, the soul is the intellect. It has to do with man's sensibilities and will. It is the part of man that reasons and thinks. And be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God!

Rom.12: 2. Man: is a three fold being the bible teaches that man is a spirit, he has soul and he lives in a body. Thess 5: 23. Through the spirit, we are able to contact spiritual things. Prov. 20:27 says, “The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord, searching the inward parts of the belly”. Through the body we contact physical things (all around us).

Through the soul we contact mental things or intellectual things. This is the part we are dealing with in this study. It is the soul that reasons and thinks. From the scripture in Romans 12: 2, Paul writing to the believers, made it clear that the Christian concerned needed to do something about his mind.

In verse 1 He says too that the Christians need to do something about their bodies. The reason why this is so is because the body and the soul have been born again. It is only the spirit of man that is transformed at the new birth. The moment you are born again the greatest need is for you as a new creature to begin to renew your mind or your thinking so that this lines up with the Word of God. Looking at our text properly, We notice the last part that says renewing your mind will enable you to prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Top

FOUR STEPS TO DEVELOPING THE HUMAN SOUL
•  Listen to teachers who teach the Word of God; attend meetings and seek to learn, as teachers teach the Word. Prov.4: 20-22 Ps. 119: 97-104.
•  Study the Word privately; Give time to the reading and studying of the Word daily as often as you can. 1 st Peter 2: 2, 2 nd Tim. 2:15.
•  Meditate on the Word – this means think or ponder on the Word. Let what you study sink into your heart or spirit so that an understanding will come. Joshua 1: 8, Col. 3: 16, 1 Tim. 4: 15 Matt.4: 4.
•  Doing the Word – Whatsoever the Word says you have to do it let the Word become your standard not what any man says. James 1: 22 – 25. 2Cor. 3: 18 .

CONCLUSION:
If you want to know what is Good the new your mind with the Word of God.It pays it doesn't cost. If you want to know what is acceptable then renew your mind with the Word of God.If you want to know what the perfect will of God is;His Word will help you out!
